It is important to fellowship with other believers.  God has given ministers to help believers.  These ministers function in and through the local church which is part of the Body of Christ.  

Heb 10:25   not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (NKJ)

Anyone who is a Christian through faith in Jesus Christ is a member of the Body of Christ.  The way a person becomes a Christian is also the way people are recognized as believers.

Rom 10:9-10
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
